Welcome to the-field.life

the-field.life hosts the stories about the Christian faith. They are aimed at being direct, easy to grasp. They are comics in the sense that they are pictorial and sequential in how they are read; this is to make them accessible not simple.

They are designed to have the potential to be life changing in that they hopefully might be used as part of someone's journey to meet Jesus, who loves them and wants to walk the rest of their lives with them.

A story about God, us and how we can live together

"The Garden and the Field" is a pictorial story aimed at giving a simple message about how we can live with and without God. The field is where we live, the field has a history that changes how the field is in the eyes of God. Access to the garden is symbolic of the relationship that God wants to have with us. We were created to live in the garden with God and that is how he wants things to be again.

God never wanted us to live without Him and so he did everything in His power to make things right. Jesus came and made the way open for us to have a close walk with God as He draws us back to the middle.

The aim is for this to open a door into how God might see us, as people to be loved and cherished. He does not want us to live with guilt and shame, neither of which are in His plan for us. He wants to walk with us and for us to enjoy Him.

Story two: The Redeemer

The Redeemer is a simple pictorial explanation of how God treats our sin and shame. Instead of asking us to pay, he paid himself.

It uses the idea, apparently from ancient times, that when someone did not pay their debt it was posted on their door until it was paid. A redeemer was someone who had pity for the person and folded the paper in half, hiding the details of the debt and declared that they would pay the debt instead of the original debtor.
