The field is a simple explanation of the Christian faith using an analogy of a field and the idea that God wants us to live with Him.

Martin Roberts has been a Christian since 1983. The turning point for him was reading a book called "the Cross and Switchblade", where David Wilkerson is called from his rural ministry to go and try and help some young gang members who have been jailed. No matter what he did the authorities would not allow him to see the young men. So he and his companion prayed that God would lead them to the men's families. There was no internet in those days so they simply prayed and asked God to give them directions to the right place in the vast New York city. After a while they stopped in an area and asked someone on the pavement if they knew where any of the families of the young men lived. They were informed that they were outside one of their families' home already.

For me this raised a question - either David Wilkerson was lying or there was a God. At 1pm on he 29th of June, I prayed that if God was real he would reveal it to me. The next day a friend asked me if I knew God loved me. I would have answered no the day before as I was an atheist, but on this day I replied "yes!".

The journey since then has not been straightforward, however, like in the field booklet I can say that despite it all God has been with me, even and especially when I could not feel it.
